Caring for 16 children
Nazareth House – Hostel –
Suceava – opened 2000
caring for 6 boys
St Gabriel’s –
Bucharest – opened 1999
caring for 16 children The children have come from either state orphanages
or directly from families. Due to neglect and poverty
suffered by many children in the past, healthcare
and good nutrition form an integral part of rehabilitating
the children. Many children have behaviour problems
linked to past emotional and physical abuse. Wherever
possible FARA’s children attend local schools – this
would not be possible without extra tuition being
provided at the homes. In some cases, special schooling
is arranged for children who require special needs.
The homes are run and managed by a team of skilled Romanian
carers supported by a paediatrician, psychologist and
speech therapist.
FARA has an ongoing training programme for its carers
provided by professionals from both UK and Romania.
