Shop Manager – Richmond Kids
We are recruiting for a friendly, approachable, highly organized, and customer-orientated Shop Manager at FARA Richmond Kids.
FARA has been supporting disadvantaged children and young people in Romania for over 30 years through its network of 39 charity shops in London. We are currently seeking a Charity Shop Manager for our Richmond Kids store to lead the shop, inspire a motivated team, and drive income to support our mission.
This is a key fundraising role where you will take ownership of the shop’s performance, creating a welcoming, community-focused environment for customers, donors, and volunteers.
The Role:
As Shop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop, leading a team of staff and volunteers, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring sales and charity objectives are met.
You will work closely with the Area Manager to implement strategies, maintain high operational standards, and ensure the shop reflects FARA’s values and community focus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of shop performance, driving sales and income generation
- Lead, support, and motivate a team of staff and volunteers
- Deliver excellent customer service and a welcoming shopping environment
- Ensure the shop is well-presented, well-stocked, and commercially effective
- Manage donations, pricing, stock processing, and visual merchandising
- Oversee cash handling, Gift Aid processes, and daily banking
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment
- Support training and development of staff and volunteers
- Work closely with the Area Manager to implement shop strategies and best practice
- Monitor performance and address challenges and opportunities proactively
- Participate in area meetings and training to stay aligned with charity goals and expectations
- Build strong relationships within the local community to support donations and repeat business
- Ensure compliance with charity policies, procedures, and retail standards
The Candidate:
- Retail management experience (charity or high street preferred)
- Experience in teaching, childcare, or child-focused environments is also valued
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to drive sales performance
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
- An understanding of how to increase sales and donations, with a keen eye for opportunities
- A hands-on approach, including manual handling and shop-floor duties
- Integrity, positivity, and a strong team-focused attitude
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Charity retail or second-hand retail experience
- Knowledge of Gift Aid and charity retail regulations
- Visual merchandising skills
Working Hours & Conditions:
- Location: FARA Richmond Kids, TW1 2EB
- Shop Opening Hours: 09:30 – 17:30
- 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute paid break
- 5 days per week rota (Tuesday – Saturday)
