Listen to the episode

The renowned series reunites individuals involved in a moment in modern history. Kirsty Wark brings together a group of people who were first on the scene when the appalling existence of the Romanian Orphanages was exposed to a horrified world in 1990. The programme highlights that despite many positive steps forward, the struggle against poverty and social exclusion continues with many children and their families forgotten and needing support.

Jane Nicholson speaks about her experiences in Romania and is joined by TV presenter Anneka Rice, former teacher Monica McDaid, Mark Cook of Hope & Homes for Children, Iuliana Georgiana ex-beneficiary of FARA Charity and currently working for FARA in London, and Alexandra Smart who has childhood experiences of living in the notorious Romanian orphanages.
